Alexis Sanchez has been out with a hamstring injury for
quite some time, but looks set for a return to action in our FA Cup clash with
Sunderland this weekend, according to the Metro.
The former Barcelona star hasn’t quite been at his best
this season, not when compared to his debut campaign in England anyway. We’ve
still missed his industriousness though, and it will be fantastic to have him
back.
He looked a little burnt out at the start of the
campaign, with an action packed first season with Arsenal and a busy summer
with Chile leaving him no time to rest.
It’s notoriously hard to get the Chilean to give anything
less than 1000% both on and off the pitch, so hopefully this enforced break
will have done him some good. If he can come back re-energised and fully fit
then we should be in a fantastic position to challenge for not only the Premier
League, but for a third consecutive FA Cup as well.
As the Metro reports, Alexis was expected back relatively
quickly following his injury against Norwich. He suffered set-back after
set-back though, and now months later he finally looks set to make his return.
It seems unlikely that he’ll start the game, and Arsene
Wenger may look to ease him in at some point during the second half. Some
rotation is expected following a busy Christmas schedule, but fingers crossed there
won’t be too much.
