Arsenal want to extend Ozil's contract ...but Europe's top clubs want him

Mesut Ozil is getting “constant” enquiries about his availability from Europe’s top sides, according to the Arsenal midfielder’s representatives.

A report from Marca has claimed that the Germany international has rejected the offer of a new contract from the Gunners, and is looking to leave the club at the end of the season as he is unhappy with the lack of progression in the Champions League since his £37.4 million arrival from Real Madrid in 2013.

Barcelona have already been linked with a move for the 27-year-old, and the report from the Madrid-based newspaper claims that the Spanish champions have registered their interest ahead of the summer window.

"It is known and correct that Arsenal want to extend their contract with Mesut,” Ozil’s management company told Bild.

“It is also correct that there are enquiries for him constantly.

“Mesut is a World Cup winner, the most creative player in Europe, Germany's top player - of course other top teams are interested."
