Arsenal used to be the centre of all transfer
related gossip when transfer windows opened up, but not this time, which begs
the question, why is that?
The Gunners used to be linked with almost
everyone, no matter how big or small a name, you name them, we got linked with
them.
It cannot be the case that the tabloids are no
longer bothering with their lies and speculation, they don’t care about the
accuracy of their reporting and if there is one thing about Arsenal transfer
rumours, it is that it guarantees traffic to their websites.
So why so little gossip? Personally I think it
is because Arsene Wenger has made it clear that there will be only one or two
signings and that they will not be happening for a couple of weeks yet, in
better words, there is no need for the guesswork this time round, there is no
great unknown, no will Wenger sign someone or not.
Once the mystery has been removed what is there
left to gossip about, no point going on about Benzema or Wanyama and such like
when everyone knows they will not be happening.
Maybe there is a lesson there for Wenger and
Arsenal in future, announce your specific plans early on and kill the rumour
mill.
