Arsenal to offer Mesut Ozil a bumper new deal to keep the assist king from leaving the club

Arsene Wenger is preparing to offer his star player Mesut Ozil a bumper new deal that will take his weekly wages to £180,000, according to Telegraph.

The German playmaker is already Arsenal’s highest earner together with Alexis Sanchez, but the new deal will see him get a £50,000 raise as the Gunners are willing to send the clear message to all the speculation regarding the speculation regarding Mesut Ozil potential move away from the Emirates.

Mesut Ozil had a quiet game during the weekend against Leicester City, but he still managed to grab an assist for Danny Welbeck in his sensational last-minute winner against the Foxes.

It was Ozil’s 17th assist of the season as the German midfielder is closing in on Thierry Henry’s record of 20 in a Premier League season.

The 27-year-old World Cup winner is enjoying a fantastic season with Arsenal, during which he finally proved his real worth to all the doubters and critics accusing him of being a big game bottler.

Fantastic displays of creativity and vision have helped Mesut Ozil become one of the most influential players for Arsene Wenger’s team and the Gunners are prepared to award him with a new contract that would also brush aside any interest from the potential suitors.

Spanish and German press have reported last week that Mesut Ozil was unhappy at the Emirates, claiming that was the main reason why Ozil has not yet extended his current deal that runs until 2018.

Barcelona were mentioned as potential suitors, willing to take advantage of the situation and snap up the former Real Madrid man, but Arsenal are ready to go head-to-head in their attempts to hold on to Ozil who joined Gunners in 2013 for £42.5 million.
