Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has
admitted he hopes Mesut Ozil will
win the Ballon d'Or award next year.
With Lionel Messi,
Neymar and Cristiano
Ronaldo vying for the 2015 Ballon d'Or accolade tonight, the Frenchman
has admitted he would love to see Ozil win the award next year but said he is
not a fan of the individual prize.
When asked whether he wanted Ozil to win the award in
2016, Wenger said: "I wish, as I told you I am not a big fan of that
[award]. What is important is we are a team sport, and it's not logical to me
to just encourage individual effort.
"We live already in a society where it's all about
individualism. Coming from a team sport going to that as well is to me a little
bit contradictory to what is the route of our sport."
