Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil says his slow start to life at the
club was down to his teammates not being on the same wavelength as him and not
finishing off his passes,
Ozil has been in the form of his life at Arsenal this season,
setting up 16 goals for his teammates as he closes in on the record of 20 set
by Gunners legend Thierry Henry.
But the Germany international believes he was in just as good
form before this campaign, only it was those around him in the Arsenal squad
that failed to live up to his standard.
“Our forwards now convert my assists. You have to put the
numbers into perspective,” Ozil said.
I’ve also played a lot of good final passes in the last two seasons, but
nobody converted them. This year, our attackers turn my assists into goals, and
those assists appear in the stats.”
