Arsene Wenger has revealed that he is unlikely to make
any more signings for Arsenal this month following the arrival of Mohamed Elneny
this week.
The Gunners completed a deal to sign the Egypt midfielder
from FC Basel on Thursday as Wenger moved to add cover to his squad for the
injured Francis Coquelin.
Arsenal have
inevitably been linked with a host of other players in recent weeks as Wenger
considers further bolstering his squad for the second half of the season.
However, the Frenchman says that he would much prefer to
have all of his injured stars, including the likes of striker Danny Welbeck,
back available, rather than bringing in more players this month.
Speaking at his pre-match news conference at Arsenal’s
London Colney training ground on Friday morning, Wenger said: “Ideally,
personally, I would prefer to have the players back from injury.
“Like Welbeck, for example, who has been out since April
last year and is now two or three weeks away.
“I’m confident that I will not find a better player than
Welbeck on the market.
“If you give me the choice, I would prefer to have all my
injured players back and after go into the end of the season with everybody
available.”
