2015 African football of the year Pierre-Emerick
Aubameyang has rejected the chance of signing for Arsenal.
Speaking at the conclusion of the Glo-CAF awards
held on Thursday, January 7, Aubameyang made it known that he has no intention
of singing for the Gunners.
Arsenal have reportedly bid £44.6 million for the
Gabon international following his sensational scoring record of 24 goals
in 23 games this season.
He told reporters: “I don’t want to go to Arsenal. I
won’t leave Dortmund soon.”
Aubameyang expressed joy at winning the trophy after
beating off competition from Manchester City’s Yaya Toure and Swansea City’s
Andre Ayew.
He said: “When you’re next to players like Yaya
Toure and Andre Ayew, you are proud to win this trophy in front of them because
they are great players that I admire a lot.”
On his chances of winning the trophy next year, he
said: “I will have to work, I will have to work a lot. But I have the
qualities to be there again next year. But it is hard work and sacrifice too.”
Aubameyang
was named African player of the year ahead of Yaya Toure and
Andre Ayew who came in at second and third place respectively.
