Thierry Henry has perfectly summed up the pain and
frustration of being an Arsenal fan.
The legendary striker was speaking about Arsene Wenger’s
side’s chances for the 2016/17 campaign and did little to hide his frustration
that the same thing happens every season.
And he even suggested that a finish outside the top four
could force a change within the club for the better.
When asked whether Arsenal will finish in the top four,
he took a deep breath and replied: ‘I hope. My answer every time is I hope.
‘I hope we win the league, I hope we’re going to finish
in the top four. I hope. That’s what I hope for.
‘Every time I hear that people are saying “this year’s going to be the year that Arsenal are not going to make top four”, and I hear that quite a lot, and we manage every time to get by.
‘But it’s going to be a tough one. It’s going to be a
really tough one.
When quizzed if it would be better for them to finish
outside the top four, Henry admitted it might provide a spark.
‘Yes, in a way, because you are going to have to change stuff,’ he added.
‘Yes, in a way, because you are going to have to change stuff,’ he added.
‘And what it is, they always have that late run at the
end of the season. People say “if you carry on that level from last year then
we can have a good season” but then we all know what always happens the season
after.
‘And I agree with you, it might change something if you
are not in the top four.’
