Thierry Henry says that there is no better time for
Arsenal to beat Chelsea and lay down a marker for the rest of the Premier
League season.
The Gunners host the Blues at Stamford Bridge on Sunday
afternoon as they look to secure a victory to keep their place at the top of
the table.
Arsenal were
held to a goalless draw by Stoke City in
the Premier
League last weekend after their 3-3 thriller with Liverpool last
week.
Chelsea head
into the game in stuttering form and 19 points behind the Gunners, with Guus
Hiddink’s men languishing in 14th place in the Premier League
table.
Former Arsenal striker Henry believes that the north
London club are set to take their opportunity to beat Chelsea and take a step
closer to winning their first title since 2004.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday
morning, Henry said: “If you’re Arsenal, there is no better moment to play
Chelsea.
“They [Arsenal] could have won at Liverpool, they didn’t
– they drew against Stoke City which wasn’t bad when you know what they did to
other teams at their place.
“But you have a chance to beat the champions at your
place and make a statement that you want to be the new champions.
“There’s nothing better than that – and it’s a London
derby.”
Arsenal were beaten 2-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge
when the two sides last met in the Premier League back in September.
