Paul Merson has suggested that Manuel Pellegrini could be
a good candidate to take over from Arsene Wenger at Arsenal.
It remains to be seen if Wenger will extend his current
contract at Emirates Stadium before the summer of 2017, when it is due to
expire.
There have inevitably been plenty of suggestions about
who could take charge at Emirates Stadium once Wenger calls time on his spell
at the north London club.
Manchester
City boss Manuel
Pellegrini is set to be looking for a new club in the summer following
the Citizens’ move to bring in Pep Guardiola at the end of the season.
And former Arsenal man
Merson feels that Pellegrini could be a good fit for the north London club
should Wenger leave the Gunners.
Merson is quoted as saying by HITC: “I honestly don’t know. The way he’s handled himself,
I would say Pellegrini of Man City.
“He’s been a credit. I mean, he could go on to win all
three trophies in England and he still got the sack.”
Arsenal, who drew 0-0 with Southampton on
Tuesday, are currently preparing for their Premier League trip
to Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
