Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to return to winning ways
by beating Chelsea 2-1 in their crunch Premier League showdown at Emirates
Stadium this weekend.
The north London side head into the game on the back of
two successive away draws against Liverpool and Stoke City after
kicking off 2016 with victories over Newcastle
United and Bournemouth.
Chelsea’s
stuttering season continued last weekend as they left it late to come from
behind and salvage a 3-3 draw against Everton at
Stamford Bridge last weekend.
The Blues are 14th in the table and have only won three
of their last 10 Premier League games.
Owen wrote in his column for Colossus Bets: “I think everyone has been guilty of
expecting Chelsea to flick a switch and move up swiftly up the table, but the
improved performances just haven’t been forthcoming. They are playing like a
mid-table side.
“Their fans can point to their excellent record in this
fixture – they haven’t lost to them in the league since 2011 – and the fact the
Gunners can blow hot and cold.
But Arsenal must be strong favourites here at home, and
even more so if [Alexis] Sanchez and [Mesut] Ozil are fit, and I take them to
stop the rot in this fixture and win 2-1.”
Arsenal are looking to win the league for the first time
since 2004.
